Biography

Sandy Cohen has been continuously involved in utility investment research, financial analysis and investment banking since 1985. Sandy is the founder and President of Shoreline Utility Advisors, Inc. From 1996 to 2001 Shoreline Utility Advisors, Inc. served as strategic and valuation advisor to more than half a dozen electric utility and power companies.

From 2002-2004 Sandy managed a Utility & Power Long/Short Equity Fund (Shoreline Utility Fund I).

Previous to that effort (2000-2001) Sandy helped conceive, develop and form a large Energy/Power/Utility private equity fund. He served as Senior Advisor to that fund (Arclight Capital Partners) during 2001-2002.

During 1997, Sandy was the co-head of Schroder’s North American Power Investment Banking Group.

Prior to the formation of Shoreline in April 1996, Sandy was the global coordinator of Electric Utility Research at Merrill Lynch (1994-1996). In this role, he coordinated 19 research and strategy professionals and their research products in the United Kingdom, Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia and North America. In addition, he was the lead US electric utility research analyst and industry specialist, heading a 5-analyst team that covered 52 US electric utility companies.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Sandy was the global coordinator of Electric Utility Research at Morgan Stanley (1988-1994). In this role, he coordinated as many as 12 research and strategy professionals and their research products in the United Kingdom, Latin America, Southeast Asia and North America. Sandy was also the lead US electric utility equity research analyst and industry specialist, heading a 3-analyst team that covered 34 US electric utilities.

Sandy Cohen has also held other investment research positions at Morgan Stanley, Smilen Investment Research & Management, and Neuberger & Berman.

Sandy Cohen was ranked on the Institutional Investor “All American Research Analyst Team” four consecutive years while at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, and was consistently ranked highly in the Greenwich Associated research analyst survey, reaching a ranking of first (tied) in 1995. Sandy has served as the Program Chairman for the Wall Street Utility Group, and regularly serves on the Program Committee of various Financial Conferences. Sandy holds a B.A. in History from Columbia University.
